2020 KINGS UMPIRES:

Umpire Training - Each year Kings Youth Baseball (KYB) offers training to current and prospective umpires. If you want to be an umpire for KYB you must be 12 years old or turning 12 before May 1st and attend the training classes and pass an umpire test. Once this training is completed you will be placed in our pool of umpires, with assignments determined each week by our Umpire Coordinator. Please see the schedule below for 2020 KYB Umpire training dates / times / locations.

*ALL UMPIRES WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE UMPIRE REGISTRATION THIS YEAR. WE WILL USED THE SAME WEB BASED UMPIRE SCHEDULE AND ASSIGMENT SITE. Umpire registration for the 2020 season is now OPEN (thanks to those who have already registered).

*Umpires 12 to17 years old please register under the youth umpire registration. Umpires 18 to adult please register under the adult umpire registration.

*Note: Umpire game notifications and assignment notices will be emailed from the website to the assigned UMPIRE'S EMAIL only and will not post to the umpire's parent email.

2020 UMPIRE TRAINING SCHEDULE:

Classroom Training:

Thursday March 5th, 6-8PM, - KJH Cafeteria

Wednesday March 11th, 6-8PM - KJH Cafeteria

Thursday March 12th, 6-8PM - KJH Cafeteria

Testing: (only pick one night)

Wednesday March 18th, 6-8PM KJH Cafeteria

Thursday March 19th 6-8PM Location: KJH Cafeteria

Testing will be conducted online this year.  A score of 70% or higher will be needed to pass the test.  Re-takes are permitted.

  • New umpires ages 12 and 13 will take the D test and will only be eligible to umpire D, T-Ball and Little League Coach Pitch Games.
  • New umpires ages 14 to 20 will take the C and Up test and will be eligible for D games and the C and higher games (umpires must be 2 years older than the age level they are umping).
  • Returning umpires 13 thru 20 should take the C and Up test.

Please complete first attempt by end of day Thursday, April 9. 

D34, Rule 31b: To be a certified umpire, an individual must attend the umpire school held prior to the season and pass the umpire test. Exception: Adults (21 and older) can attend a single rules interpretation meeting to be certified. This exception also applies to veteran umpires under 21 (but they are still required to take the test).

Veteran  Umpires: KYBS considers you as a veteran umpire after your THIRD year of umpiring.

Returning UMPIRES: KYBS encourages the returning umpires to attend the training and positioning. By rule 31.b VETERAN Umpires need to attend one of the three classes and take the test. Attending Positioning is again encouraged for all the returning umps.
